All real estate agents are not created equal. Membership in the National Association of REALTORS, and its associated state and local chapters carries with it the obligations to abide by the REALTORS® Code of Ethics and, in the event of a complaint, to be bound by the decisions of the local board's arbitration panel.
In 17 Articles, the Code of Ethics specifies REALTORS® duties vis-a-vis their clients and customers; the public; and other REALTORS®. Long thought the preferred refrence for REALTORS® business conduct and the mechanism for REALTORS® to resolve their dispute, a lesser known clause in Article 17 of the Code of Ethics empowers REALTORS® clients and customers to file for arbitration of contractual disputes and/or disciplinary actions for ethics violations agaisnt REALTORS® who violate the Code, provided the individual(s) filing the complaint agree to also be bound by the ruling of the local Board's arbitration panel.
All partners and associates of Lion Realty are committed to the Standards of Practice defined by the Code of Ethics, many of which are above and beyond the requirements imposed by law with the caveat that in any instance where the Code of Ethics
and the law conflict, the obligations of the law take precedence.
